Palm Court – The Drake

For those who love their afternoon teas fresh, colorful, fragrant and steeped in history, Palm Court at The Drake, a Hilton Hotel, serving tea for nearly a century in the Gold Coast neighborhood of Chicago, is the quintessential Magnificent Mile afternoon tea experience. Even the Queen and Princess Diana have made their royal visits here.

Your afternoon tea begins with a peruse of the Palais de Thes menu, which features 17 unique tea blends including classic selections like the English Breakfast and Earl Grey to modern yet delightful twists like the Mélange du Cap, a delicious pairing of cocoa nibs and vanilla pods against a delicate rooibos backdrop, for a warm and sophisticated blend.

Tea is served in individual tea pots accompanied by the traditional three tiered tea tray filled with an arrangement of gourmet artisanal finger sandwiches; delicious from scratch breads and scones; and dainty petit fours with accoutrement complements of house made preserves, lemon curd and English double Devon cream prepared by pastry chef Claire Crenshaw.

And let’s not forget about our little tea connoisseurs developing their appreciation for the art of tea and tea service…the Prince & Princess Afternoon tea service, suitable for children between 4 and 12 years of age is available throughout the duration of afternoon tea service between 1 pm and 5pm.

LondonHouse afternoon tea service takes a non-traditional approach to high tea. Offered daily in the Bridges Lobby Bar, located on the second floor, with stunning views of the Chicago River and famous bridges. Our tea service ($55) begins with a selection of Rare Tea Cellars teas, and a basket of fresh scones and breads with accouterments. The 3 tiered tower follows with savory and sweet bites crafted by our culinary and pastry teams.
